Customer Reviews This is a reliable device for data backup and portability. Date: 2007-09-13 | Rating: 5 This Iomega Super DVD External Drive we are using for business data backup and portability. We have customers with different production environments ranging Windows XP SP-2 to Windows 2000. To support production we have few test machines setup according to production environment. Using this single Iomega Super DVD External Drive we don't need internal drivers for each machine. It is also very convenient to bring data at home. After you finish your job at home you can easily bring it back to work. So far the unit is working fine no problems. We are not using this unit very extensive just few times a week. Potentially we are planing saving money on computer orders without internal drivers. GREAT BURNER, FAST & EASY Date: 2007-11-12 | Rating: 5 I USED THIS PRODUCT ON MY LAPTOP, EASY PLUG AND PLAY, BURNER IS RELIABLE AND EASY TO USE ON ANY PC, PEOPLE THAT COMPPLAIN ABOUT IT MAYBE ARE NOT USING THE RIGHT SOFTWARE AND RIGHT DVDS, I HAVE TRIED ALL KINDS OF DIFFERENT MEDIA DVDS AND SOME OF THEM ARE CHEAPLY MADE & WILL HAVE GLITCHES, THIS BURNER WORKS LIKE A CHARM Great dvd Burner Date: 2006-07-09 | Rating: 5 I am not sure why the other review is so bad, but let me tell you, this is one awesome dvd drive. I have not had one bad disk made with this unit....If you are trying to copy a copy protected DVD, it is your software causing you the problems, not the DVD unit.....This unit is perfect.... For the most part, it does what it should. Date: 2007-08-01 | Rating: 4 I used this burner with Roxio Toast software and was happy with the results. In order to minimize "coasters" I would burn the disc to an image file on the computer first, and then burn discs from the image file. Internal drives are always better because the data isn't going through a connection like USB, but for an external DVD solution this drive from Iomega is reliable. Life Expectancy Too Short Date: 2007-03-10 | Rating: 3 I would have gone with a five-star review, if I had experienced a decent survivability rate. It did a great job burning DVDs and CDs, but I would get quite a few errors on some DVD burn attempts that would coaster the blank DVD. I used Roxio Media Creator Version 7+ with decent results. My DVD player in my living room was sometimes finicky when I fed it DVDs burned on this player. Then, came the fateful day when it went Tango Uniform on me after only six months of service. This would have been a five instead of a three, but hit/miss scenario with the DVD burn attempts, and the early Last Rites ritual pulled this rating down to a three. As for the one star rating in this series of reviews, all I can say is that there is a different configuration for each individual computer that rolls off an assembly shelf, so it is striclty hit or miss, and I don't think that a DVD burner carries all the responsibility for poor performance. Go ahead and get one, but if possible, but dedicate the PC it is used on strictly to burning DVDs. Also, do whatever it takes to keep the hardware and the hard drive(s) fast. |

Date: 2004-07-13 | Rating: 5 I got mine. Ignored the fact that the other guy had a bad experience with the fan. He must have got a lemon because mine doesn't make a sound at all. Iomega will replace such things, just in case you didn't know. That's what warranties are for. I don't care much for the Iomega software though. Mine seems to hang up...might need some tweeking. But the Norton Ghost 2003 is perfect for my needs. Easy to use. It backed up my entire system in no time flat using the Windows interface. Affordable, reliable disaster recovery and backup... Date: 2003-11-25 | Rating: 5 Have owned this drive for about 6 weeks. Simple install in Windows XP. Iomega backup software works well. Ghost 2003 was a real bonus and works perfectly including allowing you to write to the USB Iomega in DOS as well as restore in case of disaster, first drive I've seen do that this perfectly. Backed up Ghost images of my two hard drives (about 50GB) in compressed form to the Iomega with no problems whatsoever, all while in DOS environment. If you want simple, efficient backup and off line storage, this is your solution hands down. Paid an incredible $90 for it after a rebate, you can't go wrong. Best Bang for the Buck Date: 2004-07-20 | Rating: 5 80 gig's of space for alittle over a 100 dollars. I've had this for 4 months now and it works perfectly. It's quite, fast and everything I wanted and more. I don't know what these others are talking about. I use it just for storing Music ,videos and games. No problems. Worked fine Date: 2008-09-25 | Rating: 5 I had this drive for several years, though I rarely used it more recently. The drive was reliable for me during that period and I never had any issues with it. The drive, having been manufactured years ago and being such an old product, is much slower than most of what you can find on the market today. Nonetheless, taking into consideration when it was released and its reliability since then, I believe this drive has earned 5-stars from my experiences with it. Great for backup Date: 2009-01-05 | Rating: 5 I've had this drive for over five years and it has always worked perfectly. I use this for the sole purpose of managing my extensive music collection. Great buy!!! |

Features - Fits easily into a shirt pocket - USB powered, no external power supply required - No rebooting required for live system backups - 4200 RPM - Transfer rates of 25 MB/sec Product Description Take files and applications anywhere! This ultra compact, 100GB USB-powered Portable Hard Drive requires no external power supply - just plug it in and go. It is a high capacity travel companion that lets you take your important files, photos and music anywhere - a perfect storage solution for the mobile professional. Customer Reviews perfect! Date: 2007-07-11 | Rating: 5 Perfect device. Works great, stands up to me throwing it around, and was very inexpensive. I love not having to carry around another power transformer. I'm very pleased. Just wish it had a way to secure the data like the Sandisk devices do. I have to be very careful not to let this guy out of sight since there's no way to protect your data. Nice gadget Date: 2007-03-08 | Rating: 4 It works just like a USB flash drive, but it has a much larger capacity and better cost per megabyte. Not as portable as the 40GB version, but it still fits into a jacket internal pocket. Comes with a dual head USB cable, useful if your PC can't deliver enough current to the device. A good product Date: 2008-01-20 | Rating: 4 I find this product very convenient and useful. It is very small and light and holds TONS of stuff. I recently went to a foreign country and it holds all my thousands of pictures very well. It's so small, next time I travel I'll most likely take it with me so I can take more pics. The only bad thing I have found is that plugging it into my computer takes both cords and uses TWO USB plug in places (all of my available places for USB so I can't plug in my computer cooling fan or other camera devices.) The installation software was totally simple though! It's a really great product and I'd recommend it to anyone! Just what a non-techie needs Date: 2007-08-29 | Rating: 4 OK, I can't speak to the security features (or lack thereof) or to the product specifications. I am not a techie in the least. I bought this so that I could back up my home files and photos. I don't work for the CIA. This comes with an instructional set-up CD that is dummy-proof. The thing is ready to go in about 3 minutes. It is 100 GB so I won't out of space any time soon, even when saving lots of photos. It is a nice small silver square, and takes up very little room on my desk. It can easily be plugged and unplugged into your hard drive's USB port. You can back up your files any time the mood takes you. Its ease of use will encourage you to do that often. I use this in addition to a very small Lexar jump drive (about 2 " long) which I can use to take fewer files with me to work, or when traveling. |
